Spotted Nutcracker photography workshops

Our daily Spotted Nutcracker photography workshops are tailored for both beginners and experienced photographers who want to refine their skills while exploring one of Bulgaria’s most scenic alpine landscapes. Set against the dramatic backdrop of pine forests, the Nutcracker provides unique chances for portrait shots, action photography, and natural behavior studies.

These short yet immersive workshops are designed to maximize time in the field. Mornings begin with the soft mountain light, perfect for crisp, detailed captures. Throughout the day, you’ll learn how to use light, composition, and camera settings to bring out the best in this elusive bird. With guidance from expert wildlife photographers, you’ll master techniques for photographing birds in flight, close-up details, and storytelling images.

Beyond photography, these daily excursions are an adventure into Bulgaria’s pristine wilderness. The crisp alpine air, calls of forest birds, and the thrill of spotting a Nutcracker swooping between the trees make every moment unforgettable.

How does it work?

I will pick you up from your hotel in the early morning. The drive to the ski resort is about one hour, depending on the traffic. The ski resort is at 1700 m above sea level and we will spend at least 2 hours. Light and bird activity is best in the morning, but afternoon sessions are also possible.

After the end of the session, i will drive you back to your hotel. We can do an extension and include a session in the city parks and look for Black Woodpecker and Long-eared Owls. The latter roost in a quiet courtyard in the city.
